JoyRoots is an education consulting group that partners with schools, districts, and organizations to cultivate emotionally intelligent people and systems rooted in equity, restorative practices, and authentic human development.

While social and emotional learning (SEL) and restorative practices have gained traction across the education landscape, too many efforts remain narrowly focused on behavior management and compliance rather than self-awareness, identity development, and community healing.

In many cases, the burden of change is placed almost entirely on students, with limited attention to the environments, systems, and adult practices that shape their experience. These deficit-centered approaches not only fall short, they can reinforce harmful narratives, particularly for students of color, and undermine the conditions necessary for authentic engagement and belonging.

We guide schools through a process of transformation that begins with adult emotional intelligence and extends into the design of aligned, equitable, and restorative systems.
